The Barnstable Youth Soccer Association's Instructional Soccer program is a fun, entry-level soccer experience open to Barnstable residents ages 6-12. Simply put, the goal of our in-town recreational program is to foster self-confidence and to learn the game of soccer while having fun and making new friends.
The BYSA Instructional program is made up of a Fall and Spring season. The Fall season starts in September and finishes in November, with the Spring season starting in April or May and finishing in June. Each season is six weeks long, with all the games being played on Saturday mornings at a local Barnstable field. Unlike Travel soccer, there are no makeup games for those that are cancelled due to weather or adverse field conditions. BYSA Instructional coaches are not required to run a weekly team practice, but are encouraged to do so for team building and skill development. The day and time of team practices are set by each individual Instructional coach, based on the availability of the coach and of the players. We also offer a skills-based clinic each week run by professional coaches from Challenger Sports.
Between the start and end of the instructional season, there are two weeknights of professional training made available to instructional players and coaches. Each night is broken down into sessions that player and coaches alike are encouraged to attend. The goal of this additional training is to educate players and coaches on current age/skill appropriate lessons to help better our kids. Each session will conclude with a short scrimmage led by coaches to help exercise and hone their new skills. Click HERE to register now!
